Checking your Summer EBT balance is easy—it can be done online, with a safe mobile app like Propel, or by calling the number on your Summer EBT card or regular EBT card.

If you qualify for Summer EBT, also called SUN Bucks, and you live in a participating state, you should expect a deposit of $120 per eligible child, so you’ll want to know when those benefits arrive.

If you’re already a Propel user, it’s easy to see your Summer EBT balance in the Propel app—if your state sent out Summer EBT cards for 2024 and is using them again for 2025, just make sure you’ve linked your Summer EBT card in the Propel app.

Propel is a free and simple way to track your Summer EBT or SUN Bucks balance—all you have to do is download the app to your phone and set up your account using either your regular EBT card or your Summer EBT card (just make sure to choose “Summer EBT card” in the dropdown menu).

If your state sends your Summer EBT deposit to your regular EBT card, you’ll be able to track everything in one place as soon as you link your EBT card.

With the Propel app, you can:

  • Instantly check your Summer EBT balance
  • See information about benefits in both English and Spanish
  • View your EBT transaction history up to two years back
  • Find stores in your area that take Summer EBT and regular EBT
  • Unlock exclusive deals on groceries, internet plans, insurance, and more

If you’re already a Propel user and your state is sending Summer EBT deposits to your regular EBT card or a Summer EBT card that you already linked in the Propel app, you don’t need to do anything.

You’ll see your Summer EBT or SUN Bucks balance in the Propel app once it arrives.

If your state is sending 2025 Summer EBT deposits to your 2024 Summer EBT card, you need to link it in the Propel app in order to check your Summer EBT balance (if you can’t find your 2024 card, get in touch with your local SNAP office for help).

If you use an EBT-balance checking app like ebtEDGE, Connect EBT, or a state specific benefits app like Your Texas Benefits, your Summer EBT deposit will show up just like a normal SNAP deposit.

You’ll probably be able to know that it’s your Summer EBT because of the deposit amounts—remember that Summer EBT is $120 per eligible child.

Every EBT card or Summer EBT should have a toll-free customer service number on the back that's available whenever you need to check your balance.

You can also find your state’s EBT number online, call it, and follow the prompts to check your Summer EBT balance.

When you call to check your Summer EBT balance, you'll be asked to share your EBT card number and PIN to check your current balance and most recent transactions.

To help protect your benefits from theft, make sure you are in a private place when you call.

Using receipts to check your Summer EBT balance#using-receipts-to-check-your-summer-ebt-balance

Your remaining EBT balance prints on store receipts each time you make an eligible purchase.

Remember that if your Summer EBT deposit goes to your regular SNAP EBT card, your card will automatically spend the Summer EBT money first because it expires sooner than regular SNAP.

It may be a good idea to save your receipts after each EBT purchase to keep track and to know what retailers you have visited—especially if you don’t use a balance-checking app like Propel.
