If you get SNAP benefits, you may also be eligible for other programs that can help lower your monthly energy costs.

You don’t have to pick just one program—many households will qualify for multiple and combine them to further reduce utility costs. The Propel app can also help you find ways to save on utilities.

Propel is the #1-rated EBT balance checking app

Some states let you join shared solar projects, even if you rent or can’t install panels yourself.

You can keep your same utility company but part of your power comes from a local solar farm, and you’ll receive savings on your electricity bill each month. Search “community solar" and the name of your state or ask your utility company if they offer solar savings.

State and local programs #state-and-local-programs

On top of LIHEAP, many states and cities run additional energy-assistance programs that help with overdue bills or offer seasonal discounts. Search “utility discount program” in your city or state or call 211 to find options.

The Propel all also features some of these utility savings programs—you can learn more and check new offers in the app.
