How to find a food stamp office near you

Table of contents

You can use the USDA’s SNAP State Directory of Resources to find a SNAP office near you.

It’s important to know where your local food stamp office is—whether you're ready to apply for food stamps or just have questions about qualifying for food stamps or managing your benefits, your local office can be a valuable resource.

Even though SNAP exists all across the U.S., each state runs its own program, and the names of the offices might vary. Your state might call it something like the Department of Human Services, the Department of Social Services, or Family Assistance.

Just dial 211 from your phone and follow the prompts to speak with someone who can help you locate your nearest SNAP office or answer general questions.

You can also visit the 211 website to search online by ZIP code or browse services in your area. This can be helpful if you don’t want to wait on hold or you’re looking for additional support programs other than food stamps.
