Many of the biggest grocery stores, supermarkets, and online retailers accept EBT for eligible food purchases. Here’s a list of the most popular grocery stores where you can use your SNAP benefits, both in-person and online.
Walmart#walmart
Walmart is one of the largest grocery chains in the U.S., with everything from fresh produce and meat to pantry staples. Amazon#amazon

Costco#costco

Sam’s Club#sams-club

ALDI#aldi

Kroger#kroger
Kroger and its family of stores (including Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Smith’s, and Fry’s) are a go-to for many families for affordable groceries. Kroger stores accept EBT in-person and online for pickup orders in some states.
Albertsons#albertsons
At Albertsons and its family of stores (including Safeway, Vons, and Jewel-Osco) you can pay with EBT in-store, and many locations also allow online orders with EBT payment.
Target#target
Target offers groceries in addition to household goods, clothing, and more, but you can only use your SNAP benefits to buy eligible food items. You can use EBT at Target locations in-person or online for pickup and delivery. Learn more about using EBT at Target.
Publix#publix
Publix offers fresh produce, bakery items, and cold prepared foods among other SNAP-eligible groceries. Publix accepts EBT in stores for any SNAP-eligible food purchases. Online shopping at Publix with EBT is available through Instacart.
Trader Joe’s#trader-joes

WinCo is a warehouse-style grocery chain offering low-cost bulk and fresh foods. WinCo stores accept EBT for in-person shopping. You can’t use EBT for online shopping at WinCo.

Food Lion accepts EBT in stores and through online ordering in some areas, depending on where you’re located.

The USDA has a free online tool called the SNAP Retailer Locator that shows a map and list of stores near you that take EBT.
Here’s how to use it:
- Go to the SNAP Retailer Locator website
- Enter your ZIP code, city, or full address
- The map will show all the nearby stores that accept EBT, along with their addresses
- You can click on each store to get directions and contact information
2. Call the store directly#2-call-the-store-directly
If you already have a grocery store in mind, it’s a good idea to call ahead and ask if they take EBT. When you reach customer service or the front desk, you can ask:
- “Do you accept SNAP/EBT for in-store purchases?”
- “Do you accept EBT for online grocery orders or delivery?”
